From Bubaque, we plan your excursions around your interests, the season and sailing conditions: island discoveries, cultural encounters, nature outings or sport fishing. Each programme is designed with our local team, respecting the places and communities that welcome you.
Since 2025, the coastal and marine ecosystems of the Bijagós Archipelago, Omatí Minhô, have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Cajou Lodge at a glance
Cajou Lodge stands on Bubaque Island, in the heart of the Bijagós Archipelago in Guinea-Bissau (coordinates 11.30136, −15.83169). The lodge faces the sea and all 15 rooms have an ocean view. Since 2025, the archipelago’s coastal and marine ecosystems have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The easiest option is the shared boat, booked through the lodge: about 1 h 30 at sea for 30,000 CFA (≈ €46). A private boat, the public ferry or an Air Bijagos flight are also possible. For a tailor-made stay, Cajou Lodge arranges your airport welcome and transfer. All the details are on the Travel information page.
Cajou Lodge is open from October to the end of May, during the dry season, the best time to discover the Bijagós. To watch turtles nesting on Poilão, the ideal period is from October to mid-February.
