From Courchevel to the Bijagos, the same care for hospitality

MYRIAM BARBIER

I am Myriam Barbier, a French entrepreneur in hospitality and concierge services, and the owner of Cajou Lodge.

My experience in Courchevel and Saint-Tropez has shaped the way I welcome guests: listening, anticipating needs and caring for the details that make a stay enjoyable.

In Bubaque, this attention meets another way of experiencing travel: the rhythm of the islands, the closeness of the ocean and the richness of the people you meet.

With Cajou Lodge, I want to bring these two worlds together: thoughtful hospitality and an authentic discovery of the Bijagos. Here, the finer things take a simple, warm form, built on availability, comfort and personal attention.

Together with our local team, we help you discover the archipelago while taking your wishes and conditions on the ground into account. Our role also includes supporting you with transport and organisation, so that you can fully enjoy the journey.

Our story in a few questions

Ochre counter and pergola of the outdoor bar, at the heart of our story at Cajou Lodge

Cajou Lodge belongs to Myriam Barbier, a French entrepreneur in hospitality and concierge services. Her experience in Courchevel and Saint-Tropez shaped the way she welcomes guests: listening, anticipating needs and taking care of the details that make a stay enjoyable.

Our story brings two worlds together: attentive hospitality and an authentic discovery of the Bijagós. Luxury here takes a simple, warm form, made of availability, comfort and personal attention, in a small lodge of 15 rooms.

In Bubaque, high standards of hospitality meet another way of travelling: the rhythm of the islands, the closeness of the ocean and the richness of encounters. The island is an ideal starting point to discover the Bijagós Archipelago, its beaches, mangroves, villages and the Orango and João Vieira-Poilão national parks.

Every programme is designed with our local team, respecting the places and the communities who welcome you. Some places are sacred and reserved for initiates: your guide tells you what is allowed. We invite you to ask permission before photographing anyone and to dress appropriately in the villages.

The lodge’s local team helps you discover the archipelago according to your wishes and the realities on the ground: transfers, boats, excursions and organisation. You have a contact on WhatsApp at every step. Discover the excursions and the lodge rooms.

Our guests’ memories are published on TripAdvisor. Photographs of the lodge, encounters and islands are gathered in the gallery.

Our story began with Myriam Barbier’s wish to bring the care of hospitality she learned in Courchevel and Saint-Tropez to the rhythm of the Bijagós islands. Today our story is written with the lodge’s local team, who share their knowledge of the archipelago with every guest.

The simplest way is to stay at the lodge: our story continues with every encounter, around the table, on a boat or in the villages. Write to us to plan your tailor-made stay and browse the photographs of our story.
